Sodatide Guides: Where to Start on Gut Health, Fiber and Probiotics
Quick answerThe Sodatide guide library has 2 long guides, 3 blog articles and 4 short primers on this page. Start with the gut health guide if you are new to fiber and probiotics. Read the buying guide if you are comparing products. Every piece links the study it uses and states the dose that was tested.
Two long guides cover the basics and the buying decision
The library starts with two in-depth guides. One explains gut health from the ground up. The other shows how to judge any gut supplement label, including Sodatide.
Gut health guide
How the gut microbiome works, what fiber and probiotics do, and which daily habits have the most research behind them.

A one-week reading plan for new readers
Short on time? Read one page a day. By day seven you will know what to look for on any gut label.
- Day 1
Read the gut health guide. Note the two fiber types and the three probiotic species it covers.
- Day 2
Read inulin vs. resistant starch. Write down the gram doses the studies used.
- Day 3
Read the Akkermansia article. Look at what form of the bacterium was tested.
- Day 4
Open the Supplement Facts page and compare it with your notes from days 2 and 3.
- Day 5
Work through the buying guide checklist with any product you are weighing.
- Day 6-7
Check side effects and the refund terms. Then decide, or ask your doctor if you have a health condition.
Blog articles go deeper on one ingredient at a time
Each article takes one topic from the Sodatide label and explains the research behind it. See every post on the blog.

Read the termsPrimer: what is a prebiotic fiber?
A prebiotic is a fiber that your own body cannot digest but gut bacteria can. It passes through the stomach and small intestine and reaches the colon intact. There, bacteria break it down and grow.
Chicory root inulin is the most common example. In one trial, 12 g a day for 4 weeks raised bifidobacteria and softened stools (Vandeputte et al., 2017). Not every fiber works the same way, though. A long-chain inulin at 10 g a day did not raise bifidobacteria in another study (Bouhnik et al., 2004).
Sodatide holds 211 mg of chicory inulin and 100 mg of potato resistant starch per capsule. The ingredients page puts those amounts next to the study doses.
Primer: what is a probiotic, and what does CFU mean?
A probiotic is a live microbe that can benefit health when taken in the right amount. That definition comes from an expert panel, which also stressed that benefits are mostly strain-specific (Hill et al., 2014).
CFU stands for colony-forming units. It counts how many cells can grow, and it is the number most studies use. The same panel called about 1 billion CFU per serving a common minimum for general claims.
Milligrams are not the same as CFU. A label can list a blend weight without saying how many cells it holds. Sodatide lists its blend as 36 mg, and its CFU count is not published.
Primer: what are short-chain fatty acids?
Short-chain fatty acids are small molecules that gut bacteria make when they ferment fiber. The main ones are acetate, propionate and butyrate. Butyrate is a fuel for the cells that line the colon.
In a study of three fibers, 28 to 34 g a day of resistant potato starch raised butyrate by about 29% on average (Baxter et al., 2019). About 63% of people responded, so results varied from person to person.
These acids can also trigger GLP-1 and PYY, two hormones tied to fullness. Human results are mixed and came from about 16 to 30 g of fiber (Byrne et al., 2015). That is why the label claims carry the FDA asterisk.
Primer: how to read a supplement label in five steps
These five checks work on any gut product. They take about two minutes.
Find the serving size
Check how many capsules make one serving. All the amounts on the panel refer to that serving.
Read the active amounts
Look for milligrams or grams of each fiber. Compare them with the doses studies used.
Look for CFU and strain codes
A strain code looks like letters and numbers after the species name. It tells you which studies apply.
Scan the caution text
Note who should ask a doctor first and any storage rules, such as refrigeration.
Check the refund terms
Find the refund window, who pays return shipping and how long a refund takes.
Guides, blog posts and bonus e-guides: what is the difference?
Four kinds of reading carry the Sodatide name. Only one of them comes with a purchase.
| Type | What it is | Who gets it | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long guides | In-depth reads on gut health and on choosing a product | Everyone, free | This page, cards at the top |
| Blog articles | Short pieces on one ingredient or habit from the Sodatide label | Everyone, free | The blog |
| Primers | Two-minute explainers of key terms | Everyone, free | Further down this page |
| Bonus e-guides | Six downloadable guides on habits, sleep, skin and food | Buyers of the 3 or 6-bottle pack | Bonus guide list |
How are these guides written and checked?
Every guide here follows the same rules. Product facts come from the Sodatide label and the brand's info page. Research claims link to the study, with the author, year and dose.
When a fact is missing, we write “not published.” We do not fill gaps with guesses. We also say when a study used far more of an ingredient than one capsule holds.
